Zeus' Standard weapon is the Lightening Bolt. He is the god of rain, and is called the cloud gatherer. He uses his Lightening Bolt to punish human for wrongdoing. He combines his power of being the god of rain and being the cloud gatherer to summon Storms.
Zeus Parents were Cronus and Rhea. Cronus was the leader and the youngest in the generation of Titans. Rhea was a Titanese. Cronus Rhea and all the other siblings overthrew their father on Mount Olympus .
Zeus is also represented as a god of Justice and mercy. He is called this because he protects the weak, but he punishes the wicked.
Zeus was raised by Gaia. Gaia is the "Mother of the Titans." She is also the goddess of the Earth and Land.
Zeus had 5 brothers and sisters who are well-known, Poseidon Hades Hestia Demeter and Hera. When each of them were born their father had eaten them. He did this because he had a vision of one of his children would overthrow him. When Zeus was born his mother hid him in a cave which he was raised by Gaia(fact 4) and she took care of him while he was growing up. Once he was grown up Zeus went back to Mount Olympus, made His father, Cronus, throw up his brothers and sisters. Once they were all out they fought their father, won, and sent all of the Titans to the Underworld.
Once they overthrew their father and the Titans, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades divided up creation of Earth. Poseidon became the god of the sea. Hades became the god of the underworld. and Zeus took the sky as his domain.
Zeus had many Children, but two well-known sons were Heracles and Perseus. Both of these men were hero's but in different situations. Also both of these men are highly respected upon.
Zeus has 4 symbols. The lightening bolt, an eagle, a bull, and a oak tree. Each of these symbols has a reason to be Zeus' symbol. The lightening bolt is Zeus' weapon. The eagle shows Zeus' knowledge. The oak shows his liveliness in the world. The bull explains his power in battle.
The gods who are not his natural children address him as Father, and all the gods rise in his presence to show their loyalty. They call him Father because He protects them and He is a good leader.
As a token of their appreciation for saving his father, the Cyclopes gave him thunder and the thunderbolt, or lightning, which had previously been hidden by Gaia. This tells the story of how Zeus got his lightening bolt as his weapon.
Zeus' main symbol is the eagle. The eagle is a "keen eyed" bird and is classified as a smart bird. So this bird would symbolize Zeus' watchfulness and his knowledge of the world.
The Oak is one of Zeus' symbols. It shows his liveliness on the earth.
Another symbol for Zeus is the bull. The bull symbolizes Zeus' power in battle.
